Hello Gary. I have to say that we had a brilliant time. Quite the holiday of a lifetime. All the arrangements were spot on, including the service from local representatives, our drivers, guides etc. The hotel in Cochin was perfectly located, and our trips up to Munnar and on the rice barges quite memorable. Finishing up at Marari Beach was not a disappointment - it was the perfect chillout second week. The hotel staff there and everywhere were a delight and so eager to please - and just the most terrific food. Malcolm Williams

Hello Diana, We want to thank you for making all the arrangements. Your recommendations for our travelling and accommodation were right on the button. You couldn’t have answered our brief, better! All your drivers were very knowledgeable, kind and considerate. They certainly had some challenging journeys to navigate, especially the up and down to Ooty which was mostly in the dark. And we enjoyed each of our main stays… Tranquil was probably the highlight and is definitely on the wish list for a return visit. Victor and his family were great fun and extremely generous hosts. They were especially kind in arranging visits to the tea plantations where my Grandparents had lived and worked in the 20’s. A very emotional day as you can imagine! As you predicted, we did have a bit of an exciting time making our connection back onto the BA flight but in fact, the Duty Manager at Cochin Airport sorted things by transferring us onto a Jet Airways flight via Chennai and we made it with a few minutes to spare. Hi Diana, I just wanted to say a very 'big thank-you' for organising our recent trip to Kerala. We had the most amazing time and have fallen in love Kerala. All the arrangements were spot on, the accommodation and the drivers were fantastic. RK - the driver we had for 6 days was excellent. Very good service from start to end of holiday. Our driver JR was excellent - English excellent, very knowledgable and friendly but not intrusive. A small mistake on the houseboat drop off - very quickly resolved to our total satisfaction. We loved the holiday, which was all that we had expected. I would certainly recommend Kerala Connections. From the start Gary and Diana were very personable and used their knowledge of Kerala to suggest suitable places and hotels in line with our requirements. It was exactly the approach we were looking for and our honeymoon definitely felt tailored. We absolutely loved Dewalokam - the hospitality, place, food, Jose and Sinta and the kids and would like to have spent more time there. Taj by Vivanta, Kumarakom – Excellent room, good facilities and food, lovely views across lake. Houseboat – You made a good call recommending the boat with AC in bedroom and dining room, as it proved to be a sanctuary in the evening. Royal Mist, near Munnar. I can only re-iterate the positive reviews accumulated on Trip Advisor. We have travelled extensively and we’ve never come across such a genuinely friendly family, very humble and doing absolutely everything they can to listen to their guests and improve wherever they can. All in all, we had a wonderful holiday, full of the colour & contradictions India has to offer, but without seeing the worst of its social problems, a kind of India-Lite, which for our first visit was just fine. This holiday was a wonderful experience. Everyday brough new and amazing experiences. This was all enhanced by our outstanding driver. He had a vast knowledge of the history, geography and the flora and fauna of all the areas we visited, in addition to his ultra safe driving skills. Dear Gary we have just returned from what the four of us agree was the best holiday we have ever had. Truly outstanding. Kerala is breathtakingly beautiful and the food was amazing. We sort of expected both of these. However, we were unprepared for how friendly the people were and the truly superb places we stayed in. It far exceeded our expectations. It’s really impossible to exaggerate how delighted we were. Every single place we stayed in was truly superb. I think we each had our favourite place (mine was Phillipkutty’s farm, Bea and I think Heather's was Aanavilasam and Jasmin's A Beach Symphony) but all agreed that there wasn’t one we couldn’t have spent longer at and all get a 5* from all of us! We had two wonderful birthdays out there with three cakes between us; all given by hotels etc and presented with what seemed like genuine kindness and pleasure. I spent my 50th with the wonderful Nimmy and Paul and will write to them to thank them again. The arrangements worked faultlessly and our drivers were really lovely, knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough to help. I realise I’m gushing and will make sure appreciation is shown on tripadvisor but I also wanted to thank you for your help in putting together a brilliant tour. We will certainly go again and I want to go next to Tamil Nadu to see some of the temples. Perhaps next year, but if not then definitely the year after. All the best and much appreciation. The local agent was very helpful to ensure that our programme was explained to us - other than that we did not see him or have further contact with him - which is the sign I suppose of a good holiday! We had a marvellous time in Kerala, our first trip to India. Everything we saw was completely different from what we are used to - the vegetation, the birds (I hated the crows but loved the kingfishers!), the potholed roads and the wonderfully graceful and colourfully-dressed women. Everyone we had contact with was very friendly, particularly the men who were cricket-mad and loved to discuss the minutiae with Stuart. Our driver invited us to call him "JR" and was a real gem. We felt we had made a friend in him - nothing was too much trouble and he volunteered all sorts of information. Our trip into the hills was fascinating partly because of the roads, goats, cows, dogs and pedestrians and partly because of the scenery. Unfortunately the weather in the hills was awful, being wet and cold. As we descended from the hills the temperature rose markedly while we approached sea level. We found the riceboat experience quite magical and enjoyed every minute. We had a lovely crew, and were served up with half a dozen dishes at every meal, and I don't think we ever had the same thing twice. The sun shone all the time as well which helped greatly. We were told by all the locals that the monsoon had been late in starting and was late in finishing, so our timing was not quite right. All the arrangements were spot on and all the accommodation was more than satisfactory and each very different from the last. Sorry to whinge about the weather, but that was our only complaint!

The Tea Bungalow Hotel, Cochin was a wonderful place to stay and everything was of a very high standard. The staff were highly professional in all respects, the accommodation was very roomy well laid out and spotlessly clean and all the food was cooked, presented and tasted excellent. Windermere, Munnar was a great place with excellent accommodation and facilities all positioned to get the best views of the hills and surrounding valleys. The Spice Village resort had lodges nicely laid out in landscaped grounds to give you privacy if you wanted it but still close enough to your neighbours to make friends. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food delicious. The forest trek into Periyar Tiger Reserve is an absolute must for people who are interested in wild life. There is an early morning trek which we did not take but which would offer more things to see although we were not disappointed as we saw elephants, eagles, wild pig, owls, and the flora would keep you more that occupied. Purity - it's not very day you get to have a holiday in a newly finished resort and be the first and only two guests to use the facilities and have all the staff at your disposal. Chef made us excellent meals which the staff, some new, were very professional in the way they served us. In fact all the staff here were excellent. There is more development planned and yet to be built at this resort and if the finish and high level of detail is to be continued it is highly recommended. Dewalokam - this is where we were most looking forward to visiting because the description of the resort was our type of holiday: forest, wildlife, river, organic farm, plantation, walking, peace and quiet; and so our list went on and it is all there at this excellent home stay. The moment we saw the home stay we knew we were not going to be disappointed. We did so many things here that all the staff in some way were involved and it was purely to make our stay so remarkable and unforgettable. It's always said to save the BEST until last and with Dewalokam it was certainly the case and the cost of this stay for the all round high standard was incredible. We want to express our thanks to Anil our driver. His knowledge of the region and the places that we stayed or visited proved to be very beneficial. At all times he was professional, courteous, helpful, punctual, smiling and our needs were his priority. Next time we come we will request that we have him as our driver. We enjoyed our stay in Kerala so much that we will be making a return trip soon and hope to visit some of the places visited this time as well as exploring more of this amazing region.

Everything went according to plan. Having read a bit about India we were absolutely amazed at the precision of all our connections. We had a lovely young man, Ajay, as our driver. He was an excellent driver and we enjoyed his company. Highlights were Olive Brook at Munnar, where the cooking and service were outstanding, Bethsaida Hermitage where the gardens were beautiful, the dinners excellent and the staff friendly and the rice boat trip. We thought it well worthwhile going for two days on the boat. It meant we took a long tour south of Vembanad Lake and much of the time there was not another rice boat in sight. The boat looked almost new and was beautifully kept. The chef was really excellent and had reasonable English. It was probably the best food we had during the whole trip, although it was hard to choose. We enjoyed our stay at Arakal Hermitage and the food here was also excellent. The Old Courtyard was just the sort of hotel we like. Mr Kumar was very efficient with exemplary timekeeping throughout the trip. The Marari Beach Resort was wonderful in every way, beach, birds, flowering trees, lovely swimming pool and excellent service. Your drivers were excellent, weaving their way brilliantly along narrow roads crammed with people, bicycles, scooters, lorries and buses, and the train was fun even if filthy. The only slight let down of the entire trip was the Radisson Hotel at Mahabalipuram - which was spread out over a vast area and rather soulless with inefficient service. I would very much hope to come back to you next year to get suggestions for visiting Goa perhaps combined with Hampi and Karnataka. In the meantime, many thanks for all your help.

All transfers went smoothly and efficiently. We found that the CGH Earth Group establishments were professionally run and the staff polite and attentive. Thank you so much for organising our trip so perfectly. We really had a wonderful time. We did find the South of India much easier for travelling than in the North. Everything went really smoothly and that's unusual for our holidays! Overall we were very happy with the accommodation with the exception of the Metropole Hotel in Mysore. The building is quite beautiful and we recognise that heritage hotels will often be quirky. But our complaints are mostly in relation to cleanliness and efficiency. We loved the Gateway Hotel at Coonoor - excellent food and wonderful Yoga master. Tea Bungalow at Fort Cochin was just perfect. Our room was stunningly furnished and decorated, the two managers could not have been more helpful. I wrote a review to Trip Advisor as soon as we returned. The houseboat trip was stunning, perfect for relaxation, so very peaceful and beautiful. Our crew were charming and again the food was superb. Marari Beach was a perfect ending to our trip. A number of people have already asked us about our travel arrangements and we have passed your name onto them. We will not hesitate to recommend you to anyone thinking of travelling to India. The beach resort (Marari) would be better near a town (not much to see). Thattekkad bird guide and sanctuary were excellent. Thekkady, we stayed there to see wildlife, there was very little to see (flying foxes excepted). The organisation was good and seamless. A well sorted tour.We loved Kerala.

The holiday was a great success. All the arrangements worked perfectly. All the accommodation we stayed in was good, but we particularly enjoyed the homestay at Gitanjali, Mysore which was a peaceful oasis. The CGH Earth hotels (Brunton Boatyard, Coconut Lagoon and Marari Beach) were all wonderful. The hospitality was amongst the best we have ever experienced with extremely helpful and courteous staff, great food (especially at Coconut Lagoon), wonderful settings and spacious accommodation. It was also impressive to see the real effort the company is making to encourage sustainable tourism, particularly at Marari Beach. Both our drivers, Manu (Bangalore to Wayanad) and Prakash (Wayanad to the Backwaters) were great. They were always on time, the cars were clean and comfortable, and they were happy to stop wherever we wanted. Mr Kumar at Cochin was very friendly and telephoned us several times (via the drivers) to check we were happy and to confirm arrangements for the next step. We appreciated this and enjoyed meeting him in Cochin.

We received a high standard personal service whilst in India. A number of the staff in the places we stayed also mentioned that they knew Diana, Gary or other Kerala Connections staff and commented on how much care you take in checking the quality of the accommodation. This is obviously the case from our experience and thank you for that.

Overall then a wonderful time was had by all and we will definitely be travelling to southern India with Kerala Connections again, probably in 2011, when we would like to explore the eastern side from Chennai down to Madurai and possibly the southern tip of Kerala. Thank you once again for all your hard work, and care and attention in planning and arranging our perfect holiday. We would be grateful if you could also pass on our thanks and appreciation to the great team in India and all the people who helped to make it such a memorable time for us.

The whole holiday was superb. Our driver, Shibu, was excellent - he was with us for 8 days and never put a foot wrong. The cruise on the backwaters was quite lovely and the food outstanding. Thanks to Diana and Trevor at Kerala Connections, we had a colourful and very exciting trip to Kerala last Christmas 2008. We stayed in a variety of accommodation some of which were outstanding and good value for what they were offering. Most were a middling price range. We by no means stayed at 5* luxury places throughout although we did enjoy one or two special places. Most were very different from places we have stayed elsewhere. Perhaps that is the diversity of India but we felt their local knowledge made the difference between a good trip and a great trip. We booked comparatively late and hotel/homestay availability was limited so we were especially pleased with where we found ourselves. The transport was well arranged with good cars and drivers. When there was a problem beyond their control, they made sure everything was sorted to our satisfaction. We were very pleased overall and recommend them highly to anyone thinking of a trip to Kerala or elsewhere in India.

In the last three years we have used this company for holidays in Kerala (twice) and Sri Lanka. They were recommended to us by friends who rated their service and, as you can see by the number of times we have used them, we have not been disappointed. Being a small company they have always provided a dedicated member of staff to deal with us, and even if that person has not been available, a colleague has always been able to deal with any issue raised. The travel and accommodation arrangements are impeccable, and our contacts and guides in India and Sri Lanka have always been punctual, well informed and extremely solicitous. We have not had one single hitch in any of our three holidays and are confident that if we had, they would be sorted with the efficiency and attention to detail they bring to the rest of their organisation. We have recommended them to other friends who have had a similar experience to those described here. As to costs, we have found them very reasonable when comparing their prices with those of other agents and with internet prices. Kerala Connections obviously has a very good reputation especially at Coconut Lagoon who treated us as honoured guests.

I also thought that you might be interested to hear our views on Etihad Airlines. The seating, meals and in-flight entertainment (all very important on a long flight) were excellent. We would certainly fly with them again, although Abu Dhabi airport is a little limited in its entertainment value after 5 hours!

We had a fantastic holiday...the holiday of a lifetime indeed!! Kerala is a fantastic place and we got a good overview of its diversity. All the arrangements and transfers worked like clockwork - no failures, no slip ups, on time and to time. We really appreciated the detailed information you provided to us ahead of time, both the general information and the information specific to our itinerary. I would never have been able to negotiate the tipping maze without it!! Everyone we met was polite and helpful and I have never come across such attentive service. And as for the food - stunning, wonderful...now has me researching South Indian restaurants in our area as I am not sure I can have the 'usual curry' ever again.

We would pay special tribute to our driver (Shibu) for the bulk of the trip. Excellent driver, good English, very helpful but not in the least intrusive or over the top. A very dignified guy whom we all took to.

Noah (aged 11) had a great time and was of course fussed to death by staff, drivers, passers by...everyone!!

So, Diana I hope you can tell that we loved our holiday and cannot speak highly enough of your thoughtfulness and efficiency in planning our itinerary. We would most definitely use you again if we go to Kerala and have already started recommending you to other people.

The houseboat ride was fabulous, the cooking extraordinary but the night was an ordeal as the AC was too loud. At Periyar we saw a black leopard and a giant squirrel. The Spice Village is special for its fragrant air, the many activities and the extraordinary attention it bestows on its guests. I almost telephoned you to ask if we could drop some of the other destinations and stay there longer.
